Health Promoters

Every month the practice will be leading on various health promotion campaigns where we will have patient information available for you, health promotion displays in the surgery and we will be encouraging patients to engage with us in helping you to help yourself.

Telephoning the Practice

We are asking all patients who are ringing for results of investigations, queries with prescriptions, general queries to telephone the practice between 11am - 4.00pm - this means the telephones will be available for those patients who need to see a doctor or nurse that day and also for patients ringing in requesting a visit.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Advanced Nurse Practitioners

This practice employs ANP's (Advanced Nurse Practitioners) who are highly qualified individuals who work in a similar way to the GP's, seeing, assessing and sometimes referring patients.

Booking Appointments

Please be aware when booking an appointment the GP's are only given a 10 minute slot for each patient unless it is a non-English speaking patient who has an interpreter or a patient who may require more time because of a disability.

If you feel you may need more than a 10 minute slot please inform the receptionist of this.  If you do attend an appointment with a number of health problems the GP may ask you to rebook another appointment so that more time can be spent with you.

If you wish to register for online appointment booking, please speak to the receptionist or contact the practice to be sent your registration details.

Extended Surgery Hours

The practice now offers an extra 6 hours surgery time per week, some weeks this may be a Saturday morning from 9.00am – 12.00pm or a Weekday morning from  7.00am – 8.00am and Wednesday Evening 6.30pm – 7.30pm.

If you work and find it easier to book an appointment out of work times, please feel free to book an appointment in our extended surgery hours.

Evening and weekend GP appointments available

Patients registered at this practice will be able to have evening and weekend appointments following the launch of the Salford Wide Extended Access Pilot this summer.

The pilot, run by Salford Primary Care Together, means patients at Swinton’s four practices - The Sides, The Poplars, Silverdale and The Lakes - will be able to book appointments later in the evening (6.30pm-8pm) Monday to Friday and on a Saturday and Sunday morning (9.30am-12.30pm). These appointments will take place at Swinton Gateway.

To book an appointment, contact the reception team.

Salford Primary Care Together is a Community Interest Company created by GP practices in Salford working together to improve care for patients.

DNAIt is such a shame that during such a busy time of year when your GP Practice is trying to keep up with the demands for appointments, that patients do not attend or cancel their appointments, meaning longer waiting times for other patients.  In October 2017 there were 365 missed appointments. This equates to just under 2 1/2  weeks of GP appointments in one month that were lost.

If you book an appointment but are unable to attend or no longer need it, please call and cancel it, cancel it on-line at least 24 hours beforehand so that it can be given to another patient who might need to be urgently seen.

If patients continue to miss and not cancel appointments which are driving up waiting times for other patients we will write to them with warnings and if patients do not heed those warnings and continue to not attend or cancel appointments, the practice may ask the patient to register with another practice and remove them from the practice list.
